The Original Warhammer 40k game is a futuristic scifi  wargame played with 28mm miniatures on a tabletop between 2 or more players.
The game was created in 1987 and featured 3 distinct races - the Imperium of Men, Orks and the Eldar (Elves).

This world has recently been put into video game format for consoles and PC.
Space Marine was developed by Relic Entertainment and published by THQ.

In this version of the game you play a superhuman Ultramarine called
Captain Titus who is sent to the Forge World of Graia
to save it from a Horde of Space Orks lead by the nefarious Warboss Grimskull.

From the moment Captain Titus and two honour guards, Sergeant Sidonus and Brother Leandros,
land on the planet you are in for a full throttle action adventure.

This 3rd person shooter has a well developed story and superb visuals to keep you playing all the
way to the end. The movement and combat is extremely easy to get the hang of, even
when it switches from weapons to melee.
The plot has several twists and turns like a good thriller and more Gore than a late night slasher movie.

This game is not totally geared to just guns, as a messenger of destruction of the Emperor Captain Titan
is also versed in melee weapons. Starting out with the combat knife and as the game progresses
to the brutal Thunder Hammer that smashes through Orks like a jack hammer through paper.
The most fun gun to use is the meltagun which although only has a short range, can turn a group
of baddies into a smudge on the wall.

In Space Marines there are no health packs to heal you.
To restore your health back you need to vanquish an opponent in a brutal melee attack to gain health.
As an elite kick ass fighting machine Space Marines never use cover,
this makes the game much more fast-paced than some modern shooters.

Space Marine also supports online play with cooperative mode and the 8 vs 8 class-based competitive mode.

The story in this game is very linear and leaves no real room to explore the world.
Also the game is not overly long and very bloody so the squeamish should look elsewhere
for satisfaction.
However if you are a fan of action movies and games grab a box of popcorn pop the disc in the
drive and enjoy the escapade.
