SOCOM is the ultimate next-generation online combat experience.  Where a player can customize and their character (commando and mercenary) which include armor, both leg and torso, camouflage and weapons attachment as well as its perks.

SOCOM falls into the hardcore end of the multiplayer shooter genre, meaning that if you get shot you're likely to die very quickly. Killing people is hard in Confrontation. With your average game comprising of teams of no more than eight players competing against one another you can go for rounds without making  a single kill as the team's front men cleans up enemies before you've even had a chance to reload. There 7 maps with 7 modes: Suppression (Team Deathmatch), Elimination (similar to Team Deathmatch), Demolition (Search and Destroy), Breach (similar to Search and Destroy) , Extraction (bringing hostages from one area to extraction safe zones), Escort (Escorting a player for a certain time without the opposition killing him) and Control (grabbing and holding checkpoints). Teamwork is essential to success of the missions which leads me to the next important point; you MUST owe a Bluetooth Headset if you are going to succeed in the missions.  Maps are enormous with great detail (good sniper positions), environments are outstandingly well thought off and stunning, furthermore in-depth landscapes and the lighting effects are superb and Characters are in great detail.

Bottomline: It’s a good game but nothing unique to satisfy my needs as does COD5 and that being said you have to look the market at the moment.  What is out there? What we didn't consider is how the online shooter has changed over the few years. Call of Duty series have more or less revolutionized the online gaming. When you take a good look at the other competition such as Battlefield series and Resistance 2 which provide for bigger battles it's perhaps a little easier to see why Confrontation doesn't do it for me.

Pro’s:

  • Weapon and Character customization
  • Variety of Weapons
  • Detailed Environment
  • Maps are large, great detail and well thought off
  • Clan ranking
  • Online Tournaments

Con’s:

  • Sound
  • Rusty character controls
