Portable hard drives give you the potential to carry your entire music, movie library and even all your business and financial data with you. The problem has always been if the device is damaged, lost or stolen all that data is gone. The worse case scenario was someone could use all your information stored on that drive to steal your identity. The Buffalo MiniStation Extreme portable hard drive has set a standard for secure portable devices that should become the norm. The portable hard drive ships in either the 500GB or the 1TB sizes. It has an intergrated USB cable on the device, so no more looking around for the correct cable. The Bufalo drive is sturdy and is built to US Military standards for rugged use. It can be dropped safely from 2.3 metres and still will not damage the drives inner circuitary. Shock and vibration damage is reduced by placing rubber protection internally and having rubber washers at points where the drive is screwed into the enclosure. For all the secret agents types, the drive has inbuilt 256-bit AES hardware encryption to help keep data safe from theft and unauthorised accesss. This is very handy if you ever lose it or the drive is stolen. Encrypted data will only be displayed when the correct password is provided. Other software included in the Buffalo drive is TurboPC Ex which increases rates of transfer, Backup Utility and Eco Manager which reduces the drives carbon footprint. The drive is compatible with both Mac and PC and supports USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. The built-in LED light indicates what speed your data is being transferred at 3.0 (red) or 2.0 (green). This HDD goes a long way in keeping your data safe and secure. If you want total piece of mind for your data nothing beats having a backup of any data you put on a portable drive.
